Abstract
Accurately determining the maturity level and weight of mango fruit is one
of the important factors in the fruit distribution and sorting process in the
agricultural sector. The manual process that has been used tends to be subjective,
requires a long time, and is less efficient on a large scale. This research aims to
design and implement a tool based on ATMega328P microcontroller that is able to
detect the maturity level of mango fruit (unripe, ripe, and rotten) automatically
using TCS3200 color sensor, and calculate the weight of the fruit in real-time using
20 kg Load cell sensor integrated with HX711 module. The system is equipped with
a 20x4 LCD as a user interface to display the detection results directly. The test
results show that the tool is able to identify the ripeness level and weight of the fruit
with high accuracy and stable performance in a real environment. This tool shows
great potential to be implemented in small to medium industries as an automation
solution in a more efficient and consistent fruit sorting and distribution process.
